Waste Management Problems in Agro-Industries 2001

The complex environmental problems associated with agro-industries urgently need effective solutions based upon scientific information and engineering experience, as so the related issues of pollutant run-off from agriculture and sewage treatment in rural areas. The series of international symposia on Waste Management Problems in Agro-industries has become a firmly established regular IWA event, and these latest selected proceedings again make a major contribution to this task. Of the many high-quality contributions, the Programme Committee could only accommodate 44 papers. Topics covered include: diffuse pollution; agricultural and animal wastes; aerobic and anaerobic processes; nutrient removal; physicochemical processes; and wastes from the textile and food and beverage industries. They will certainly provide the necessary scientific background for the discussion of the multitude of problems involved in the appropriate management of wastes from agro-industries and agricultural activities.
